To stay up with the swiftly evolving global technology trends and developments, which will influence most of the skills required for an accounting career, this study was designed to identify and compare the required proficiency level in IT skills for Early-Career Accountants (ECAs) in various accounting sectors. The findings can be used to upskill ECAs to remain competitive in their respective fields. 80 CPAs in middle-level positions were gathered to answer the validated research instrument. A descriptive and comparative method was used in summarizing and analyzing the data following the needs of the researchers. It was revealed that among the three categories of IT skill sets, all require the most proficiency in applying appropriate IT systems/ tools to the business/ accounting context. However, there was a difference concerning the required IT skills proficiency level in the four sectors. The academe sector only required basic to intermediate level; commerce and industry required an overall proficiency level of intermediate; government and public practice required an intermediate to advanced level of IT skills proficiency. IT user skills are indeed indispensable, and they vary depending on the environment in which the professional accountant works.
